Our refrigerated department works tirelessly to source the highest-quality organic products in each category, including milk (including our farm’s Biodynamic® raw milk), yogurts, kefirs, eggs, butters, juices, and functional beverages. Our shelves include lots of savory items as well, such as gourmet cheeses, olives, pickles, misos, and sauerkrauts. We are committed to offering vegan options in each category, if possible.

One of the first to be certified organic in the United States, our creamery currently produces raw milk (available in the store); soft cheeses including Luna and May Hill; aged raw milk cheeses including cheddar and alpine; buttermilk, ricotta, whey, and three flavors of yogurt: plain, honey and maple. Our creamery uses milk from our herd of 65 dairy cows, ensuring the freshest and highest quality milk. Our products are certified Biodynamic as well as organic.

We have been making organic, hand-crafted, wild fermented vegetables since 1999. Wild fermentation preserves nutrients and vitamins, while creating rich probiotics and beneficial enzymes. More than 95% of the vegetables used in our ferments are sourced in the New York region from farms that are focused on organic, regenerative agriculture. We currently produce plain sauerkraut, caraway sauerkraut, turmeric sauerkraut, jalapeño sauerkraut, ruby sauerkraut, ginger carrots, curtido, kim chee, ginger beets, and hot pepper sauce.

Maplebrook Farm cheeses are made daily by skilled old-world cheese artisans. They make their own curd from the milk of cows that are rBGH free and that graze in the green mountains of Vermont. Their cheeses are made in small batches using all natural ingredients with no preservatives. When you buy this product, you are directly helping to support small dairy farms of Vermont. All Maplebrook cheese is made from whole milk that has been pasteurized. We carry Maplebrook’s fresh and smoked mozzarella, bocconcini, burrata, ricotta, and feta.

Sheep’s milk cheese has been made in other parts of the world for centuries, perhaps as long as 12,000 years, but it is relatively new in the United States. Old Chatham Sheepherding Company was in the forefront of producing some of the first sheep’s milk cheese and yogurt in the U.S. We carry many of their award-winning sheep milk products, from their creamy yogurts to their delicious cheeses.

Oliver’s Eggs, Frankfort, NY

Owned and operated by Oliver and Shauna Aeschlimann, Oliver’s Eggs (Can-Am Farms) is a NOFA-NY certified organic poultry and egg farm. All of the birds are cage-free, free range and pastured. The hens have access to outdoor pasture and spacious indoor housing. Most of the soy-free feed the egg-laying hens eat is produced on the farm. Pigasso Farms provides us with pasture raised meats, including beef, pork, and chicken, as well as eggs. The farm, which was formed in 2005, is owned and operated by Rob and Heather Kitchen. Their animals live as animals were intended to live, enjoying lush green pastures whenever possible. They’re fed only locally-grown feed to supplement their needs.

Their farmer partners support ecosystem biodiversity through growing practices that minimize negative impact on the land. All of their vegetables are sourced from certified organic farms throughout the Hudson Valley and the Berkshires. Their spices are all certified organic and we only use unrefined Celtic sea salt.

Real Pickles® is a small, worker-owned co-operative producing pickled products that are raw, vinegar-free, 100% organic, and rich in probiotics. Their products are made using the traditional natural fermentation process that has been used for centuries all over the world. In support of a regional food system, Real Pickles buys all of their vegetables from family farms in the Northeast, and sells their products only within the Northeast.

Ronnybrook is a 3rd generation family dairy in New York’s Hudson Valley – offering a full line of dairy products made in small batches, and delivered at peak freshness. Ronnybrook’s cows are the offspring of a long line of prizewinning Holsteins that the Osofsky family has raised for nearly 70 years. The farm uses no pesticides on its fields, manure is its fertilizer of choice, and the farm uses cropping techniques that promote healthy soil. We carry milk, drinkable yogurts, butter and ice cream from Ronnybrook Farm Dairy.

 

Seven Stars Farm, Phoenixville, PA

Operating since 1987, Seven Stars Farm is a 350 acre certified Biodynamic® dairy farm located in northern Chester County, PA. Seven Stars uses milk from its Jersey and Jersey crossed herd to produce its organic yogurt, and contains no thickeners, stabilizers, or preservatives. The result is an old-fashioned, European-style yogurt that is both unique and addictive. We sell Seven Stars yogurt and heavy cream.
